Tear Soup Ministry

12/10/2015

When Dale flew away from me 10 years ago, my best friend gave me a wonderful book Tear Soup about grieving. I was already planning a support group of women to walk through the first year with me, and it became known as the Tear Soup Group.

Since then I have purchased the book in bulk ($11 each vs $19 each) and given away 30-40 copies to people all over the world. This is one of my ministries. I have friends who donate to help me pay for the purchase and shipping of these books.

Helping others walk the journey of grief is precious to me.  Please pray with me as I discern how to expand my ministry to those who are grieving and how to offer my services free to those who cannot afford to pay me.

The Good Samaritan 2015

12/7/2015

My Sunday School class is grades 6-8. We are reading the Gospel of Luke. Yesterday we read Luke 10 which includes the story of the Good Samaritan. After reading we discuss. So I explained that the Samaritans were the enemies of the Jewish people. I also pointed out that the person who got beat up would be one of us, and asked who would our enemy be. "ISIS" came the response.

"So in the story," I continued, you get robbed and beaten up. Our pastor Todd comes by and doesn't help. Then I come by and I don't help you either. A member of ISIS comes by and stops to help you. How does that make you feel?"

Quiet. Then "I don't think I want them to help me. I don't trust them."

Wham. That is the message of this story. That is the point Jesus is trying to make.

Would you let ISIS help you? Are they your neighbor?
